Entry Requirements


At Emmanuel we provide a very distinctive curriculum designed to develop you as a rounded and well-informed member of society. As a Sixth Form committed to providing education for students of all abilities, we offer two distinct pathways which ensure students have personalised programmes of study that best meet their individual needs:


Level 3 Pathway – offering a wide range of level 3 qualifications including 22 different GCE A Level courses and a range of level 3 BTEC/CACHE courses. In year 12 students will be ordinarily be expected to choose 3 subjects which they will study until the end of year 13. In some cases, students may be able to choose 4 subjects to study

Level 2 Pathway – offering a dedicated programme of level 2 courses including BTEC Business Studies and OCR Cambridge Technical Certificate in IT alongside the NCFE Level 2 Award in Music Technology. Students will also be required to resit GCSE English and/or mathematics. All courses in the level 2 pathway last just 1 year and students are welcome to subsequently apply for our level 3 pathway providing they have met the entry criteria


Entry Requirements

 For Level 3 Study (A Level)

Students must have achieved a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades 4-9 (or equivalent) including a grade 4 or above in mathematics and English. Some subjects will also carry course specific entry requirements, please ask individual subjects for details.


For Level 2 Study (GCSE 4-9)

Students must have achieved a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades 2-9 (or equivalent) including a grade 3 or above in mathematics and English.


The final decision regarding entrance to Sixth Form and on to specific courses will rest with the Sixth Form team.
